FROM STAFF REPORTS

Journey guitarist Neal Schon will be inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame before his performance with the band Friday at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Catoosa.

Schon, 59, was born at Tinker Air Force Base, and is the sole constant member of Journey, the band he founded in 1973 after Schon and keyboardist Gregg Rolie left Santana.

Schon is the co-writer of such Journey hits as “Don't Stop Believin'” “Any Way You Want It” and “Lights.”

In addition to his work with Journey and Santana, Schon was a member of Bad English with John Waite and Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain, collaborated with Sammy Hagar in the short-lived supergroup HSAS and recorded two albums with keyboardist Jan Hammer (“Miami Vice”).

“The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame is thrilled to induct Neal Schon to kick off the first of a number of events planned in Tulsa and OKC,” said Jim Blair, executive director of the hall of fame.

The organization will be inducting other Oklahoma musicians at a ceremony Oct.
