Person dies after jumping off Oklahoma City bridge

A person died Sunday afternoon after jumping from a bridge onto an interstate highway, Oklahoma City police reported.

Shortly before 1 p.m., the person, whom police did not identify by name or gender, jumped from the May Avenue overpass onto Interstate 44's eastbound lanes.

Officers diverted traffic for more than an hour while the state medical examiner's office took the body, a police spokesman said.
